The Ultimate Glossary Of Terms About Item Upgrade

Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

The stats of an item can be enhanced by upgrading it, which is also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment boosts a stat linearly.

Players can recycle six items at a time to get a gauge of the upgraded component of each item. The cost of recycling items increases with their rarity and item level.

Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an item upgrade is a way to increase the stats of your weapon and armor. This can be accomplished through a variety of methods, including by using upgrade components or increasing the rarity or mark level. Additionally to this, many items can be reforged, which can boost their stats even more.

Upgradeable items can be found in the game, both in the world and as rewards for missions. They can also be created by players. Upgrade components are the main way to upgrade equipment. These are items that can slot into equipment. Most equipment has slots that can be upgraded and some require a specific level of upgrade. Some upgrade components give specific bonuses while others provide an overall bonus.

There are a variety of upgrade components available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gemstones and enchantments, can be put on any type of equipment, and offer less than upgrades for specific equipment. Glyphs can only be placed in gathering tools and provide various benefits, from increasing the speed of an item's gathering to providing extra crafting materials.

To upgrade an item, click it in your inventory, then open the Upgrade window.  Full Guide  will appear on the right hand side of the screen. It will display the expected stats after the upgrade. If you don't have enough of either, the Upgrade button will say Blocked.

The amount of upgrade components required for a given item can be seen in the upper-right corner of the Upgrade window. The cost of upgrading increases depending on the rarity and level of the item increase. However you can lower the cost of upgrades by purchasing them from a vendor or trading them with other players.

Many weapons can be improved by adding a prefix, such as a rune, or an insignia. Other weapons can be improved by adding a suffix. These upgrades can be used to add an adjective to the name of the item, such as "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to convey information via visuals. They are animated to grab the viewer's attention and spur curiosity in the brain. The animation of glyphs mimics the body language and makes them more effective in conveying the message of a language barrier. Glyphs also create a sense of familiarity in the brain, which increases retention of the message.

Each glyph comes with a range of values that it can improve a stat by according to the item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use them to enchant an artifact. This is the highest value that a glyph can enhance a stat by but not the amount it actually increases the stat by. The value of the glyph will depend on the tier and the quality of the item you are in awe of.

Most upgrade components slotted into items can't be replaced or salvaged without removing the gear in question, with the exception of legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a glyph or rune you don't want to use, but it hasn't been incorporated to gear yet, you can move the item to a different piece by using the Upgrade Glyphs menu in the Glyphs Panel. This will create a new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.

You can remove the glyph using a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item on which the glyph is placed will be destroyed, but the upgraded item can be recovered by removing the glyph fragments.

Adding a glyph to an item can cause it to be unstable, and the shards that are left of that glyph will disappear from your inventory once you dismantle the item. You can also put a glyph on your equipment to make it more valuable. Deferred Damage, for example can be used to store damage and then be dealt out slowly to the wearer instead of all at one time. This is useful for players who take a lot damage from enemies but do not want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens allow players to alter the affixes on their equipment and weapons, and they can be obtained through a variety of methods like mistery boxes or as a rare drop from skulled creatures, or even from killing bosses. Each reroll token gives players a new random affix that is usually superior to the original. Reroll tokens can be used to boost weapon stats for more damage or bonuses.

Rerolled items don't appear in the menu of upgrade options, however they can be upgraded. If you click the "upgrade button" you can recycle these items that have been rerolled. This will change the design of the item's window and let up to six items be chosen to recycle. The level gauge is boosted by recycling an item. This amount is determined by the rarity of the item and also its level. Therefore, higher-leveled items are more valuable for recycling than those with lower levels.

In addition to reroll tokens, players can use Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to reroll the weapon traits of an upgraded unit. Rerolls are based on a % chance for a weapon's trait. If it scores higher, then the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower the weapon remains as is. Weapons can be repeated up to three times.

A reroll is a good option for upgrading an item, but users should be aware that it could reduce the overall ilvl the weapon based on the number of rerolls required in order to increase it to the final level. This effect is most noticeable on rings and Diadems, because they are the only options for raising ilvl.

Some players have complained that the reroll system is too expensive. It's better to allow players to pay for it using money or food items which will allow players to make changes to their builds without spending too much time. The developers do not plan to offer paid rerolls in this stage in the game's development. Instead, they're planning add a race change potion in the near future.

Leveling

There are a variety of ways to increase the level of an upgrade for an item. The first is to increase the amount of upgrade, which increases the upgrade value of a given stat. The second option is to increase the effect of an upgrade, which can increase the healing or damage for an individual stat. In addition there is the possibility to upgrade the base item to a higher upgrade type. After this the new item will retain its iLevel but it will benefit from the upgrade effects of the upgraded type of item.

When you upgrade items, it is important to keep in mind that upgrades are random. In the majority of cases, a better roll is determined by glyphs. However, there are times when a more or unique roll may occur. The type of item will determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a rare or unique item to a unique item type, it's likely to getting an additional level.

Upgrading items can be costly especially when you're upgrading a piece of gear from the normal to legendary track. The price will depend on the item's base iLevel and the amount of upgrade levels it comes with. In addition, some upgrade tracks require crests to achieve the next upgrade level.

If you're lucky the upgraded item could reach the maximum level on its upgrade track and unlock an additional benefit. This will result in a significant boost in the upgrade value of the item. The bonus effect can change with each upgrade level, however. In general, the effect of upgrading is increased a value of +3.

Depending on the item's base level and its upgrade path, the iLevel of the upgraded item will change too. For instance an item upgraded from a rare or exclusive item to an extraordinary one is likely to gain the Enhanced Defence of the new base item.
